Abstract

Primary mucinous adenocarcinoma of the Appendix is extremely rare clinical disease. This disease entity might masquerade as acute appendicitis. Here we report a case of 77-year-old male, presenting with acute pain in right lower abdomen and his CECT abdomen showed Cystic lesion at the base of the caecum, diagnosed as mucocele of appendix. Open appendicectomy was done and the histopathology of the resected specimen showed features of low grade appendicular mucinous neoplasm. During follow up of the patient at 3rd and 10th month, there was no evidence of any metastasis or any other complications following appendicectomy.
