Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is a common ailment that affects 1.13 billion people on a daily basis all over the world. So, in this review we try to review different medicinal plants from Pakistan which are used in management of hypertension.

Methodology: Various form of inspection study and assessment work area units have recently been considered. A meta-examination of 18 investigations demonstrated that commonness of hypertension is 26.3% in Pakistan.

Results: The present examination demonstrated that the commonness of hypertension was essentially higher in people over 40 years. The expansion in hypertension predominance could be credited to monetary advancement, urbanization, changes in diet, and feeling of anxiety. Several common medicinal plants of Pakistan are used for controlling and curing hypertension. Unlike allopathic drugs, these medicinal plants or ayurvedic treatments are less expensive and have had less adverse effects.

Discussion & Conclusion: The medicinal plants discussed in this article are Rauwolfia serpentina, Allium sativum, Zingiber officinale and their chemical constituents. These chemicals are Reserpine, Allicin and Gingerol. Changes in lifestyle, such as diet, exercise, and stress control, can help to lower blood pressure dramatically. There must be exponential growth in the prescribing of medicinal plants or ayurvedic treatment. Also, more research should be conducted on different medicinal plants to investigate their efficacy and safety profile in management of hypertension.
