Abstract

Reproductive events such as gestation and lactation influence the cytoarchitecture of the adenohypophysial lactorophs and gonadotrophs of the female flat headed bat. Tylonycteris pachypus (Temminck). Most pronounced changes in relation to the functional state of the animal occur with respect to the nuclear morphology, organization of rough endoplasmic reticular membranes and granulation dynamics of these adenohypophysial cells, as ascertained through the transmission electron microscopic technique employed in this investigation. The cytoarchitectural alterations occurring in the two cells types as influenced by the reproductive events have been compared to evolve a correlative approach of cell identification.
